PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nike Dallas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vader has chosen Imperial March as his entrance music. Darth Vader is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nike Dallas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Darth Vader!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Vader. Those never looked like landing.
Horrible takedown by Dallas or perhaps it was just good defense by Vader which made him look bad.
Vader moves to clinch but Dallas breaks away
and Dallas counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vader throws a leg kick that misses.
Darth Vader seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dallas throws a leg kick but Vader checks it.
Dallas keeps the fight on the outside.
Vader tries to close the distance and clinch but Dallas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Vader looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Vader looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Vader closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Nike Dallas has been cut.
Vader throws a body punch but Dallas moves out of range.

Vader closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Vader has Dallas pressed against the cage, preventing Dallas from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vader throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Dallass head.
Vader is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

A nice left hand lands by Vader.

Dallas pulls Vader into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vader looking to sit in guard and control but Dallas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vader can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dallas controls the pace.
Dallas wants to get up but he can't break Vader's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vader holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Darth Vader wasn't active enough on the ground.

Vader shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Vader was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Vader landing strikes from the mount and Dallas is in trouble!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vader goes for an armbar but Dallas turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Dallas.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vader looking to control.

Dallas stands and steps away. Vader gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Dallas showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vader.
Vader avoids the head kick by Dallas.
Dallas takes one on the chin but seems OK.


Nike Dallas's cut is getting worse.
A nice combination there by Vader.

A left and a right from Vader both land. Nice combination.


Dallas is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vader throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Dallas's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Vader dives in looking to finish as Dallas flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Vader's strikes! Vader is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Dallas's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Dallas was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darth Vader!
