The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from O Toole. Machiko does a little dance to reset his feet.
O Toole shoots in looking for a takedown but Machiko manages to keep the fight standing, pushing O Toole's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Machiko checks the leg kick.
O Toole throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
O Toole throws a hook to the side of Machiko's head but Machiko sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
O Toole blocks a low kick nicely.
Machiko wants to clinch.
Machiko keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nice uppercut there from Machiko.
An inside leg kick lands from Machiko.
Timmy O Toole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
O Toole throws a sloppy head kick and Machiko moves out of range easily.
O Toole works the jab nicely.

O Toole throws a lazy right hand but Machiko sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Machiko lands a slapping body shot.

Machiko throws a leg kick but O Toole sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Machiko avoids the body shot from O Toole.
O Toole tries to close the distance and clinch up but Machiko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice body kick from Machiko.
Machiko misses the jab.
Machiko moves in looking to clinch but O Toole pushes him off.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
O Toole connects with the punch.
O Toole on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Machiko throws out a loose jab but O Toole uses good head movement to avoid it.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Machiko.
O Toole does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Machiko moves into range and connects with a jab.

It looks like Timmy O Toole has been cut.
Machiko cracks O Toole with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
O Toole scores with a hook to the body. Machiko takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Machiko throws a quick head kick that skims the top of O Toole's head.

Machiko clinches up against the cage.
Machiko throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but O Toole blocks it with crossed arms.
O Toole tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
O Toole dodges an elbow strike from Machiko.

Machiko lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Machiko works on O Toole's body with a couple of short punches.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Machiko takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Machiko is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Machiko scores with a nice hook to the head.
Machiko tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Machiko has O Toole pushed against the cage.
Machiko tries to stall but O Toole uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Machi Machiko.
O Toole throws a hook but Machiko avoids it easily.
Machi Machiko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

O Toole takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

O Toole closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

O Toole working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Machiko is looking for a sweep.
O Toole tries to move to mount but Machiko blocks the move with his legs.
Machiko is trying to control O Toole's posture but O Toole avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machiko is looking to reverse the position.

O Toole working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Machiko is looking to regain half guard here but O Toole keeps moving and retains side control.
O Toole wants to lay and pray for a moment but Machiko keeps working.

O Toole tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no O Toole has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Machiko stops O Toole from passing to mount.

Machiko is looking for a sweep.
O Toole is working Machiko over with some ground and pound from side control.
Machiko is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on O Toole's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

O Toole is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Machiko has managed to free his arm - good work.
Machiko is trying to get back to full guard.

O Toole is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Machiko tries to roll over but O Toole keeps him under control.

Machiko makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Machiko.
Machiko trying to keep a closed guard but O Toole is proving a slippery customer.

O Toole stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Machiko has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! O Toole manages to get his head free but now Machiko has transitioned to an armbar! O Toole grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Machiko! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
