The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Sparks counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cruz's guard now.
Sparks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cruz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cruz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sparks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz has his foot on Sparks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sparks works his way back into a safe position though.

Cruz has his feet on Sparks's thighs here. He's pushed Sparks off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Sparks screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
