The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cates changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. ss looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cates tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
ss is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Cates decides to stand up, so the ref orders ss to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
ss throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cates's waist but Cates gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing ss off to one side.
