The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fallon throws out a leg kick but Pope moves out of range and Fallon only half commits.
Pope tries to clinch up.
Fallon fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Pope tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Fallon is able to avoid easily.
Fallon moves out of range of the strikes.
Fallon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pope's head backwards.
Fallon punishes Pope's body with a nice straight punch.
Fallon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Pope thuds a left hand into Fallon's body.
Pope motions for Fallon to come forward. Pope throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Pope missing with a left hand there. Fallon was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Fallon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pope was well out of range. Poor timing from Fallon.

Pope fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fallon manages to avoid it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fallon is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Pope had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Pope sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pope throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fallon is still on wobbly legs! Can Pope finish him?
and Pope counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Fallon! He's just covering up as Pope starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Luther Pope!
A determined Luther Pope didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
