The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zero shoots in but Maddox avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Zero avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Maddox darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Zero won't allow Maddox to pass to mount.
Zero is trying to maintain the position but Maddox is very close to passing his half guard.
Maddox seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Maddox is thwarting Zero's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maddox is controlling the pace.
Zero wants to control but Maddox is keeping busy.
Zero is trying to control but Maddox passes into side control!

Zero is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Maddox lands strikes from half guard.

Zero looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zero is not content to let Maddox control the position.
Maddox uses his free foot to push down on Zero's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Zero.

Maddox wants to control the pace but Zero is squirming around nicely.
Zero tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Maddox looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Zero tries to hold on but Maddox pushes him away.

Maddox jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Zero manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Maddox has hold of Zero's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Zero seems comfortable defending it but Maddox has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Zero is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Zero is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Maddox couldn't care less - he's delighted!
