PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Simeon White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Masters's choice of entrance music: Super Street Fighter. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simeon White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ken Masters!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White pulls out of a head kick attempt.
White misses with a body kick.
Masters shoots in and drives through. White sprawls well.
Masters blocks a head kick by White.
White lands a nice leg kick that just misses Masters's sensitive parts.
White misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
White misses with a head kick.
White leaves Masters with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
White throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
White looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Masters closes this distance looking for a takedown but White circles away.
Simeon White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Masters.

Masters fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with White, pushing him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Masters pulls White into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
White wants to stand and escape but instead Masters has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
White is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Masters is controlling him.
Masters pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. White is keeping the position for now.
White is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
White trying to keep a closed guard but Masters is proving a slippery customer.
White wants to get back to his feet but Masters is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Masters is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Masters fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with White, pushing him back against the cage.
White with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Masters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Masters jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
White stuffs the takedown attempt from Masters. Masters gets slowly back to his feet.
White looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Masters is trying hard to land a takedown here. White sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Masters misses with a two punch combination.

Masters scores a takedown into full mount!
White really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Masters lands a nice shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White wants to control but Masters is having none of it.
The referee warns White that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Masters looking to control and managing it successfully.
Masters raining down shots from the mount!
White is trying to escape the mount.
Masters looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Masters takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Masters prevents White from getting the reversal.
Masters scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish White?

Masters stands up from mount. Strange move.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Masters throws a right and a left that both miss.
Masters shoots in but no luck this time.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Masters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says White as he avoids it easily.
Masters throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around White's waist but White gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Masters off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Masters dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Masters shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as White sprawls well. White wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Masters gets slowly back to his feet.
White displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Masters.
Masters shoots in looking for a takedown but White manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Masters's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Simeon White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Masters.

White misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

White tried to score with a low kick but Masters checks it.

White walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Masters checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Masters instigates a clinch.
Masters drops down looking for an ankle pick but White pulls his leg out and moves away.
No luck for Masters with that takedown attempt.
Masters throws a sloppy head kick

and White counters with a head kick that drops Masters to the mat! Masters scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Masters is rocked!

Masters is still on wobbly legs! Can White finish him?
Masters is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. White Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Masters is out cold, face down on the mat!
