Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeyou Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Reeves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takeyou Down!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reeves tries to clinch up.
Reeves checks a leg kick nicely.
Down ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Reeves moves away.
Reeves avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Down throws a chopping leg kick but Reeves manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Down moves out of range of the body kick.

Reeves shoots in and gets a takedown into Down's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Down keeping moving, preventing Reeves from controlling successfully.
Down manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reeves manages to get himself to full guard.

Reeves is working an open guard so Down takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Reeves misses with the combination.
Down finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Nice straight punches there by Reeves. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Reeves.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Down enables Reeves to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Down manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Reeves has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Down bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reeves's guard.
Down won't allow Reeves to get back to his feet.

Down is controlling Reeves's trapped leg to prevent Reeves from advancing to side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Reeves blocks a low kick nicely.
Reeves connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Down's hands.

Reeves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Down was covering up waiting for the punch and Reeves finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Down seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Down manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reeves manages to get himself to full guard.

Reeves is breathing heavily.
Reeves is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Down is controlling him.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Takeyou Down was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Down attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Reeves will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Reeves lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Down circles away quickly and effectively.

Down fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Reeves is out of range.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are battling for position here. Down manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Down seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Reeves is fighting to break Down's control of his arms but Down is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Down throws a solid leg kick but Reeves takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Down.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Down in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Down is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Some bone on bone action there as Reeves checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Down shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Reeves throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Reeves moves out of range of the leg kick from Down.

Down avoids a kick to the body.
Reeves moves in looking to clinch but Down pushes him off.
Down fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Reeves checks it well.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Down lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Reeves has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Reeves and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Reeves uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reeves closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Down did well to prevent Reeves getting side control.
Takeyou Down has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
