Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mikito Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mikito Akiyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marshall Jones!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jones on his heels. He'll look to pass Jones's guard now, I'm sure.
Akiyama decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get!
Akiyama closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Akiyama lands in his opponent's guard.
Jones looking to control.
Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Akiyama advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Akiyama is controlling the pace.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Akiyama is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones looking for submissions off his back.
Jones looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Akiyama is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Akiyama to get the leverage.
Akiyama passes the guard and advances to mount!
Akiyama takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Akiyama unloads with some shots from mount but Jones bucks and avoids them well.
Akiyama is standing up, even though he is in mount.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Akiyama to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Akiyama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Akiyama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Akiyama drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Akiyama off! Akiyama jumps back into Jones's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Akiyama trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Akiyama decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get!
Akiyama closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Akiyama has hold of Jones's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Jones tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Akiyama cranks the arm and Jones screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Jones, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mikito Akiyama!
