The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benson tries to clinch up.
Benson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but WW moves away.
James Benson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

WW gets caught napping as Benson dives in and scores a takedown. WW manages to retain guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Benson wanted to stand there but WW had control of the position.

Benson won't allow WW to sweep him here.

Benson has his foot on WW's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. WW works his way back into a safe position though.

Benson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. WW manages to get himself to full guard.

WW is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Benson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

WW looking to sit in guard and control but Benson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
WW wants to sweep but no luck.
Benson postures up in WW's guard and throws a big left but WW blocks it.

WW pushes Benson off and gets back to his feet.

Benson has his foot on WW's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. WW works his way back into a safe position though.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as WW accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Benson wants to stand but WW is controlling the position.
WW pushes down on Benson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Benson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Benson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but WW pulls his head out easily.

WW decides to return to a standing position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
WW keeps the fight on the outside.
Benson fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Benson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Benson leaves WW with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Benson swings for the body but WW moves out of range.

Benson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Benson stands up from WW's guard - Benson perhaps looking for a knockout.
Benson loads up on a big right hand but WW slips the punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Benson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Benson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. WW tries to avoid it but Benson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag WW to the ground. WW escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Benson lands a jab to WW's midsection.
WW stuffs the takedown.
Benson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ari WW has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Benson.
Benson swings for the body but WW moves out of range.
Benson shoots in looking for a takedown. WW tries to sprawl out of it but Benson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. WW manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

WW shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Benson is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benson throwing hammer fists to the chest of WW. What's that going to do exactly?
WW cracks Benson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

WW lands a big shot there that rocks Benson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Benson is rocked!
WW loads up with a big shot that hurts Benson! He's pulled WW in close but WW has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Benson survive? More strikes from WW and Benson is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

Ari WW tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
