Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes to the cage accompanied by Sooners Fight Song. Barron is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers. Phillip Barron struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 172.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phillip Barron!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams slips a jab from Barron.
Barron takes a swing at Williams's ribcage but misses.
Barron throws a hook but Williams avoids it easily.
Williams shoots in but Barron avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Williams shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barron pinned against the cage. Barron gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Williams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barron's waist but Barron gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Williams off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams fails with a takedown attempt.
Williams uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barron.
Williams fails to land the takedown.
Barron throws a shot from downtown. Williams moves away and avoids it.
Steve Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barron lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Barron stuffs the takedown.
Barron fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Williams looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Williams is breathing heavily.
Williams throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Williams.
Barron lands a jab to Williams's midsection.
Barron stuffs the takedown attempt from Williams. Williams gets slowly back to his feet.
Jab, jab by Barron - just one landing.


Williams is rocked!

Williams staying out of range there.
Oh Williams is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Barron throws a hook but Williams avoids it easily.

Williams fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barron sprawls well initially but Williams persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Barron won't allow Williams to pass to mount.
Williams prevents Barron from standing back up.
Williams seems to have got his legs back now.
Williams is keen to just control but Barron is a slippery customer.
Barron trying to control from the bottom.
Williams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barron keeps working.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Barron lands a right hook to the body.
Williams shoots in but Barron avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Williams fails to land the takedown.
Barron's corner calls for a 1-2. Barron obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams tries for a takedown but Barron sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Williams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barron's waist but Barron gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Williams off to one side.
Barron fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Williams manages to avoid it.
Barron drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Williams right on the button. Williams goes down! Barron follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Barron gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phillip Barron!
