Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rez Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz has chosen Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Your Neck as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alexander Cruz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Cortez catches Cruz right on the button with a cross.
Nice jab there from Cortez.
Cortez jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Cortez and Cruz goes tumbling to the canvas! Cortez follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

Cruz is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cortez tries to stand but can't do so whilst Cruz controls his leg.
Cruz is still in real trouble! Can Cortez finish him?

Cruz manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Cruz seems to have recovered his senses.
Cruz throws a body kick that misses.
Cortez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cortez misses with the combination.
Cortez lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cruz backs up against the cage.

Cortez moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Cruz goes down! Can Cortez finish him!?
Cortez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Cruz pushes Cortez off and scrambles back to his feet.
Rez Cortez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cortez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cortez stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cruz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Rez Cortez has been cut.
Cortez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cortez swings for the body but Cruz moves out of range.
Cruz throws a series of punches but Cortez avoids them all with ease.
Cortez throws a poor cross that misses
and Cruz counters with a stiff right hand.
Nice body punch from Cortez.
Cruz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Cortez displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cruz throws out the jab.
Cruz gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Cruz tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Cortez is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Cruz buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Cruz!! Cruz is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Cortez throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
