The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pirozhkov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cruz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pirozhkov is chipping away with strikes.
Pirozhkov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pirozhkov tries for a kimura but Cruz is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pirozhkov throws an elbow but Cruz slips to the side and avoids it well.
Pirozhkov is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Cruz looks calm but he's in trouble here. Pirozhkov gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Cruz is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Pirozhkov lets go of the hold and Cruz can pop his arm back in it's socket.
