The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot lands for Kimura.
Kimura throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Carvalho sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Carvalho shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kimura as he jumps to the side.
Carvalho tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kimura sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carvalho somewhat.
Carvalho shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kimura pinned against the cage. Kimura gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Carvalho. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed right hand from Kimura misses the target.
Kimura throws a jab when Carvalho was well out of range.
Kimura misses with an uppercut. Carvalho saw that one coming.
Anderson Carvalho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carvalho will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Carvalho shoots in for a takedown but Kimura shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carvalho is defended easily by Kimura.

It looks like Anderson Carvalho has been cut.
Carvalho moves out of range as Kimura strikes.
Carvalho moves away from the strike by Kimura.
Carvalho ducks under a wild hook from Kimura.
Carvalho misses with a takedown attempt - Kimura sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carvalho throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kimura's waist but Kimura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carvalho off to one side.

John Kimura is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carvalho tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kimura swivels and escapes.
Carvalho decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
