PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Dray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murilo Hartmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dray kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Champion. Murilo Hartmann has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricky Dray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Murilo Hartmann!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hartmann connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Dray momentarily.
Dray takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Dray could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dray shoots in and drives through. Hartmann sprawls well.
Hartmann lands with a hook. Dray tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Hartmann is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Hartmann lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dray shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hartmann pinned against the cage. Hartmann gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dray's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hartmann connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dray scrambles back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nice jab there from Hartmann.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dray is defended easily by Hartmann.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Dray. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hartmann fails to land with a series of punches.

Hartmann lands with a cross.
Dray doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Hartmann throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dray on the side of the head.

Dray gets cracked there but stands up to it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hartmann scores with a sloppy right hand. Dray should have avoided that one.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hartmann.
Hartmann scores with a punch to the head.
Hartmann jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Hartmann lands with a straight right. Dray didn't see that one coming.
Hartmann lands a nice shot that snaps Dray's head back.
Hartmann cracks Dray with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Hartmann throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hartmann lands a head shot.

Hartmann lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Murilo Hartmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hartmann punishes Dray's body with a nice straight punch.
Hartmann tries to bum rush Dray with a series of wild strikes but Dray uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Hartmann shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dray's guard.

Hartmann wants to stand and escape but instead Dray has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dray drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dray jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hartmann wants to stand up but Dray is controlling him.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Dray is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murilo Hartmann dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hartmann is defended easily by Dray.
Dray fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hartmann ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Murilo Hartmann seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dray.
Hartmann has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Hartmann lands a jab to the head.
Hartmann tests Dray's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hartmann swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Dray.
Dray takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Hartmann closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hartmann lands in his opponent's guard.
Hartmann wanted to stand there but Dray had control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hartmann throws an elbow that misses. Dray uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hartmann's guard. Nice move by Dray!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Murilo Hartmann has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Hartmann stalks Dray and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Dray's face. Dray staggers backwards, shaken.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dray.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Dray. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hartmann scores with a jab to the head.
Dray closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Hartmann slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Hartmann fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dray avoids it really well and circles away.
Jab, jab by Hartmann - just one landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hartmann doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Dray counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Dray drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dray jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hartmann wants to stand but Dray is controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dray thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murilo Hartmann showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Dray walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Dray moves forwards but Hartmann connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hartmann, as that shot connected.
Hartmann has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hartmann is defended easily by Dray.

Hartmann fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dray to the ground. Hartmann is now in Dray's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hartmann wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Dray's closed guard. He's half up but Dray has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Dray pivots and extends the arm, Hartmann falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Dray! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ricky Dray!
Ricky Dray very nearly forgot to thank SPARTA FIGHTWARE-GTI amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
