PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rojo Sangria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rojo Sangria!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paulo Kang!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sangria keeps the fight on the outside.
Sangria lands a nice looking body shot.
Kang scores with a body shot.
Sangria swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kang counters with an inside leg kick.
Kang connects with a solid leg kick.
Kang stuffs the takedown.
A telegraphed right hand from Kang misses the target.
Kang ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Sangria shoots in and bounces Kang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sangria postures up.
Kang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sangria throws a big right hand that misses.

Sangria tries to free his leg and advance position but Kang is retaining full guard.
Sangria postures up in Kang's guard and throws a big left but Kang blocks it.
Sangria passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kang managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sangria.

Sangria cracks Kang with a big elbow.
Kang parries the strikes from Sangria easily there. Sangria is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kang to escape.
Kang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sangria. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kang is trying to control Sangria's posture but Sangria avoids it.
Sangria lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kang down.
Sangria creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kang sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kang is looking to regain half guard here but Sangria keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sangria in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
An elbow from Sangria crashes against the mat.
Sangria has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sangria controls the position.
Sangria tries to score with some ground and pound. Kang controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Kang tries to improve position but can't.
Sangria scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kang to see if he's OK.

Sangria wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kang, who protects the arm well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kang on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Kang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sangria throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kang is rocked!
Sangria lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kang down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rojo Sangria dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kang scoring well with a low kick there.
Kang looks to land a combination but Sangria avoids it well.
Sangria misses with a series of wild punches.
Nice defenses there by Sangria.
A right-left combo lands from Sangria.

Kang clinches up with Sangria and pushes him back against the cage.
Sangria is trying to break the clinch but Kang is controlling him.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kang.

Kang breaks the clinch.

Kang gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sangria accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sangria stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sangria is working hard here to advance position.

Sangria wants to control from the top but Kang keeps moving.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kang thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Sangria if he has to take too many more of those.
Kang on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Sangria tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kang swivels and escapes.
Sangria throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kang jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kang uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sangria.
A low kick from Kang misses
and Sangria counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kang comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kang lands a nice shot that snaps Sangria's head back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kang throws a sloppy head kick and Sangria moves out of range easily.
Kang moves in looking to clinch but Sangria pushes him off.
Kang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sangria.
Kang avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Paulo Kang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sangria uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kang.
Sangria moves into range and connects with a jab.
Some wild striking there from Kang.
Kang ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kang keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kang fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sangria looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Sangria fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sangria misses with a body shot
and Kang counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Sangria throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sangria shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kang defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rojo Sangria. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A clash of legs there as Sangria blocks the low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rojo Sangria will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Sangria throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kang stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sangria swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kang checks a leg kick nicely.
Kang misses with a jab to the body
and Sangria counters with a straight right hand.
Sangria shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kang but Kang pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sangria thows a body shot but no joy.
Sangria throws a lazy head kick

and Kang counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kang.
Sangria has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The referee is keeping an eye on Sangria - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sangria lands with a right to the head.
Kang with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Rojo Sangria has been cut.
Sangria is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Kang misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sangria.
Kang prevents Sangria from breaking the clinch.
Come on Kang - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Sangria can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rojo Sangria. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kang is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Sangria is defending well for now.

Kang gets through Sangria's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Sangria blocks an elbow strike.
Kang is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Sangria misses with some punches.

Sangria manages to break the clinch.

Kang thows a body shot but no joy.
Paulo Kang seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kang swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kang misses with a wild body shot.
Sangria fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Sangria closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kang to the mat! Kang manages to get full guard.
Kang manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kang looking to control but Sangria is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Sangria is looking to improve his position but Kang isn't that keen on the idea.
Sangria is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Paulo Kang.
I think Sangria has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
