PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Hearst Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trip Kenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan comes to the cage accompanied by The Game. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Hunter Hearst Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Trip Kenzie!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan looks to land a right hand but Kenzie moved out of range.
Hogan misses with a looping right.
Hogan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kenzie gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hogan has Kenzie pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hogan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kenzie tumbling to the mat - Hogan dives into Kenzie's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kenzie wants to sweep but no luck.
Kenzie trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Hogan is stalling in the full guard.
Hogan working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hogan trying to control the position from guard on top but Kenzie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kenzie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hogan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kenzie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hogan is aware though and is defending well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hogan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kenzie wants to stand up but Hogan is controlling him.

Hogan working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kenzie's head.

Hogan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hogan is in close to Kenzie's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hogan throws a strike but Kenzie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hogan managing to control the position.
Kenzie wanted to stand there but Hogan had control of the position.
Hogan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kenzie is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hogan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kenzie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Hogan avoids the attempt from Kenzie to control.
Hogan lands a heavy elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Hearst Hogan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fighters circling - Hogan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kenzie throws a leg kick
and Hogan counters with a low kick, right behind Kenzie 's knee.
Kenzie misses with a double jab.
Kenzie looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Kenzie doesn't manage to clinch there - Hogan circles away.
Hogan dips to his left and cracks Kenzie with an uppercut!

Kenzie has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hogan.
Kenzie looks for the body kick but Hogan saw that one coming.
Kenzie takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kenzie fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hogan.
Nice uppercut there from Hogan.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hogan connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kenzie momentarily.
Hogan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Kenzie tries to clinch but Hogan is having none of it.
Hogan misses the shot to the body.

Kenzie fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hunter Hearst Hogan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hogan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kenzie tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Hogan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Hogan loads up on a big right hand but Kenzie slips the punch.
Hogan is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Kenzie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kenzie is breathing heavily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kenzie enables Hogan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kenzie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kenzie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kenzie keeping moving, preventing Hogan from controlling successfully.
Hunter Hearst Hogan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hogan throws a strike but Kenzie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kenzie postures up in Hogan's guard and throws a big left but Hogan blocks it.

Hogan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kenzie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kenzie wants to stand but Hogan is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hogan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kenzie is one step ahead there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hogan scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kenzie would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Hogan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kenzie defends it easily.

Kenzie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hogan is trying to control the position but Kenzie postures up.

Kenzie avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hogan is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Hearst Hogan dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kenzie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hogan throws out the jab.
Trip Kenzie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hogan gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kenzie tries a knee to the head but Hogan blocks it.
Hogan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kenzie is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hogan has clasped his hands together around Kenzie's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hogan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kenzie can do to turn this around?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kenzie is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Hogan fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hogan looking to control but Kenzie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hogan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Kenzie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hogan tries to control but Kenzie wriggling away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hogan looking to secure an arm triangle but Kenzie defends it well.
Kenzie is still in real trouble! Can Hogan finish him?
Hogan lands a heavy elbow.
Kenzie is squirming around, avoiding Hogan's attempts to control the action.
Kenzie seems to have recovered his senses.
Hogan postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Kenzie in real trouble here! The ref calls for Kenzie to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hunter Hearst Hogan!
Hunter Hearst Hogan very nearly forgot to thank Fossington & Blythe: Gentlemen's Fight Attire amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
