Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between El Camino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Mellendrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Camino comes to the cage accompanied by Avicii - Levels in Reverse. Mark Mellendrez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Camino looking to score a takedown here. Mellendrez is defending well but Camino drives through and ends up in Mellendrez's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Camino trying to control the position from guard on top but Mellendrez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mellendrez holds on and takes a little breather.

Mellendrez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Camino avoids it really well and circles away.

Mellendrez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Camino changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mellendrez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

You can see the frustration on Mellendrez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Camino drops Mellendrez with a left right combo! Camino follows him down to the ground into side control.


It looks like Mark Mellendrez has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Camino wants to control but Mellendrez is keeping him busy.

Camino decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mellendrez to his feet.

Camino closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mellendrez quickly recovers to half guard.

Mellendrez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Camino is working away from the top position though.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mark Mellendrez wasn't active enough on the ground.
Camino keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mark Mellendrez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mellendrez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Camino pinned against the cage. Camino gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mellendrez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to El Camino.
