Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cole, as that shot connected.


It looks like Pedro Henrique Barraboza has been cut.
Barraboza stuffs the takedown attempt from Cole. Cole gets slowly back to his feet.
Barraboza uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cole.
Cole misses with a shot to the body

and Barraboza counters by moving into the clinch.

It looks like Emmett Cole has been cut.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Barraboza takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Barraboza seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Cole is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Barraboza is defending well.
A frustrated look appears on Cole's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Cole is looking to take this one to the mat.

Cole throws a jab when Barraboza was well out of range.
Barraboza fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Cole has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Cole shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cole postures up in Barraboza's guard and throws a big left but Barraboza blocks it.

Cole is working Barraboza over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cole postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Barraboza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Barraboza connects with a high kick.
Emmett Cole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cole lands with a cross.
Cole throws a shot from downtown. Barraboza moves away and avoids it.
Barraboza stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barraboza wants it to stay on the feet.
Cole closes the distance and clinches up with Barraboza, looking for a takedown. Cole pushes Barraboza against the cage but Barraboza circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cole takes a kick to the side of the head.
Barraboza feints and then cracks Cole's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cole down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Barraboza looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cole is one step ahead there.
Cole keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Barraboza's head.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barraboza is on top in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pedro Henrique Barraboza.

Cole lands a big elbow.
Barraboza tries to hold on but Cole postures up.
Cole has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Barraboza's face.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Barraboza is bucking up trying to escape but Cole cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cole lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emmett Cole showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cole looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barraboza with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cole has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Well, if Cole is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
