PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yuki Kosaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kahn Poppason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poppason comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mortal Kombat Theme kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Kahn Poppason has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuki Kosaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kahn Poppason!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poppason rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kosaka moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Poppason looks to land a combination but Kosaka avoids it well.

Poppason tries to keep at a distance but Kosaka has taken the fight into the clinch.
Poppason should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Kosaka manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Poppason wants to stand but Kosaka is controlling his posture from full guard.

Poppason stands up and waves to Kosaka to follow him.
Poppason swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sloppy strikes from Kosaka. Those never looked like landing.
Poppason moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Poppason throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Poppason misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kosaka pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A combination from Poppason does no damage.

Kosaka misses with a hook. Poppason ducked under it nicely.

Kosaka fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Poppason sprawls well initially but Kosaka persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kosaka is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Kosaka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Yuki Kosaka.

Poppason throws a nice looking combination but Kosaka bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Poppason is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kosaka is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Poppason to the mat. Poppason regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Kosaka postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Poppason is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kosaka, into his guard.

Poppason has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kosaka is proving hard to escape from.
Yuki Kosaka overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Poppason is breathing heavily.
Poppason lands with a cross.

Kosaka shoots in and gets a takedown into Poppason's guard.

Kosaka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Poppason paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kosaka closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Poppason to the mat! Poppason manages to get full guard.
Kosaka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Poppason swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yuki Kosaka has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Kosaka closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Poppason's guard.
Kosaka throws an elbow that misses. Poppason uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kosaka's guard. Nice move by Poppason!
Kosaka is pulling down on Poppason's head. It's preventing any offense from Poppason, at least for the moment.
Kosaka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Poppason on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kosaka is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Poppason is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Poppason has escaped and now he's on top!

Kosaka escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Poppason gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Poppason working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kosaka thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kosaka wants to sweep but no luck.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kosaka has a closed guard, preventing Poppason from standing up.
Poppason trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yuki Kosaka showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kosaka, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
