Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walt Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Potter comes to the cage accompanied by Emalkay - When I Look At You. Franklin has chosen Landslide by Fleetwood Mac as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Franklin!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Franklin misses with a body shot.
Potter dives in and grabs Franklin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Franklin pushes down on Potter's head and hops out.
Franklin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Potter circles away quickly and effectively.
Franklin takes a swing at Potter's ribcage but misses.
Potter shoots in looking for a takedown but Franklin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Potter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Franklin digs a good body shot into Potter's ribs.
Franklin stalks Potter and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Potter's face. Potter staggers backwards, shaken.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Potter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Potter is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Franklin.
Franklin throws a right hand that Potter ducks under and follows up with a left that Potter also avoids with ease.
Franklin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Potter at a distance.
Potter throws a right and a left that Franklin avoids nicely.
Potter shoots in for a double leg but Franklin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walt Potter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Potter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Franklin's guard.

Potter won't allow Franklin to get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Potter lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Ben Franklin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Franklin lands a jab.
Potter lands with a shot to the body.
Franklin is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Potter rather than just go for the knockout.
Franklin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
No joy there for Franklin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A left and a right from Franklin both land. Nice combination.
Potter moves out of range as Franklin strikes.

Franklin throws a lazy uppercut
and Potter counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Potter.
Potter throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Franklin works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Franklin pushes Potter off looking to stand but Potter dives back in and keeps control.
Potter trying to control from Franklin's half guard. Franklin has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Potter wants to control from the top but Franklin keeps moving.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Potter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Franklin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Franklin has his feet on Potter's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Potter shoots in but Franklin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Franklin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Franklin takes a swing at Potter's ribcage but misses.
Potter takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Franklin drops Potter with a beautiful combination! Potter stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Franklin is looking for the KO!

It looks like Walt Potter has been cut.

Franklin drops Potter with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Potter looks back up at him and smiles so Franklin waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Potter is rocked!
Potter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Franklin as he avoids it easily.
Oh Potter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Franklin scores with a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Franklin dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Walt Potter's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Franklin stuns Potter with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Potter seems to have got his legs back now.
Potter takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Franklin throws a shot to the body.
Franklin throws a series of punches but Potter avoids them all with ease.
Franklin connects with a nice looking jab.

Franklin connects with a superb combination that knocks Potter out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Franklin before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Potter!

Ben Franklin really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Global Nutritional ACME (Q157) 90% ROR on Laundry logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
