Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bjj Spar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dr Gonzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bjj Spar!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dr Gonzo!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzo scores with a jab to the body.

Gonzo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Spar!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Gonzo prevents Spar from getting the reversal.
Gonzo breaks from Spar's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spar is wriggling around trying to escape.
Gonzo is landing with some decent strikes but Spar is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Spar is desperately trying to improve his position but Gonzo has a good base and remains in mount.

Spar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Spar is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Spar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gonzo is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gonzo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Spar is looking for a sweep.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Spar takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Spar is working to avoid the ground and pound but Gonzo connects with a decent elbow.
Gonzo throws a strike aimed at the side of Spar's head but Spar avoids it well.
Gonzo tries to score with some ground and pound. Spar controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Spar regains half guard.
Spar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gonzo.
Spar gets back to full guard.

Spar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Spar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gonzo defends well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gonzo throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gonzo scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Gonzo trying to control but Spar is working from the bottom.
Gonzo slips nicely into half guard.
Spar is looking to improve his position.
Gonzo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Spar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Spar tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Gonzo tries to stand but as he's on his way up, Spar locks on to a trailing arm. Oh, he's locked on a tight looking armbar - it looks tight! Spar rolls him over and extends the submission further. Gonzo is forced to tap! He'll be kicking himself for that sloppy move but that was very slick from Spar!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bjj Spar!
Bjj Spar retains his featherweight title!
An out of breath Bjj Spar thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
