PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emil Spindel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller has chosen Nero Remix - Feel So Close as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Emil Spindel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Melvin Miller!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Spindel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Miller drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Miller wants to stand but Spindel has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Spindel pushes Miller off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Spindel fails with the takedown

and Miller counters with a takedown into side control.
Spindel is looking for a sweep.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Miller tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Miller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spindel throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Miller drops back looking for a leg! Spindel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Spindel manages to kick Miller off! Miller jumps back into Spindel's guard.
Miller won't allow Spindel to sweep him here.

Miller avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Miller wants to control from the top but Spindel keeps moving.

Miller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Spindel kicks Miller off and gets to his feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Spindel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Miller postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Miller drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miller jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Spindel is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Miller is aware though and is defending well.

Miller is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Spindel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Miller goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Spindel rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Miller's guard! Nice work there by Spindel!
Miller is pulling down on Spindel's head to control his posture.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Miller wants to sweep but no luck.

Spindel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Miller works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Spindel wants to get up but he can't break Miller's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Spindel tries for a takedown but Miller sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Spindel misses with a body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Spindel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Miller as he jumps to the side.

Miller darts in and clinches Spindel up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melvin Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Miller throws a series of strikes that have Spindel backpedaling.
Spindel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Miller avoids it really well and circles away.

Miller is looking to clinch but Spindel is avoiding it.
Nice sprawl there from Miller as Spindel shoots in.

Spindel is trying to trip Miller. He has hold of a leg but Miller is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Spindel persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Emil Spindel wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Miller looks to land a combination. Spindel sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Spindel is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Miller to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emil Spindel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Spindel has had enough of the clinch but Miller keeps him there for the moment.
Miller tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Melvin Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
