Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Marcos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gniewomir Kowalek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gniewomir Kowalek will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Marcos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gniewomir Kowalek!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalek fails with the takedown

and Marcos counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kowalek's guard now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Marcos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Marcos throwing strikes from guard but Kowalek blocks nicely.
Marcos stays in close to Kowalek's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because David Marcos just wasn't active enough.
Kowalek tries for a takedown but Marcos circles away easily

and Marcos counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

and Marcos counters with a single leg into guard. Kowalek didn't expect that.
David Marcos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gniewomir Kowalek.

Kowalek is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Marcos seems to be working for a kimura but Kowalek defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Marcos is looking to advance position but Kowalek won't allow it.

Marcos looking for a submission but Kowalek manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Marcos stands up from Kowalek's guard - Marcos perhaps looking for a knockout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Marcos pushes Kowalek up against the cage in a clinch.

Kowalek gets caught napping as Marcos dives in and scores a takedown. Kowalek manages to retain guard.

Kowalek is fighting to break Marcos's control of his arms but Marcos is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Kowalek is looking to stand up but Marcos isn't so interested in that idea.

Marcos postures up in Kowalek's guard and throws a big left but Kowalek blocks it.

Marcos slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Marcos gets to his feet - Kowalek follows without any prompting.
Marcos jabs Kowalek right on the nose. Kowalek blinks but takes it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kowalek avoids a punch combination nicely.

Marcos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcos looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kowalek!

You get the feeling that Kowalek really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Marcos is working for a guillotine from mount but Kowalek frees his head quite easily.

Kowalek tries to hold on but Marcos postures up.
Marcos is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kowalek can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kowalek tries to lock up and control but Marcos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Marcos tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kowalek manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Kowalek takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Marcos is working for a kimura but Kowalek is defending it quite comfortably.

Marcos escapes and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Marcos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kowalek looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gniewomir Kowalek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kowalek is letting Marcos control him for a moment.
Marcos scores with a couple of short elbows.
Marcos moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Marcos stands up and beckons Kowalek to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
David Marcos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Marcos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
