Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane Picker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gruby Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gruby Perez!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Picker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Perez looking to score a takedown here. Picker is defending well but Perez drives through and ends up in Picker's guard.
Picker wants to sweep here but Perez controlling him for the moment.
Picker is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Picker pulls Perez in to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Shane Picker just wasn't active enough.

Perez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Perez tries to advance to mount but can't.
Picker tries to bench press Perez off him but Perez keeps the position.

Picker is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Perez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Perez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Picker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Picker gets back to full guard.

Picker is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Perez is aware though and is defending well.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Picker is on top in guard.
Picker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Perez wants to stand up but Picker is controlling him.
Picker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Perez is keeping the position for now.

Perez manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Shane Picker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Picker closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Picker lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Picker stays in close to Perez's body and controls the position.
Picker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Perez for as long as he can get away with.

Picker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Perez is just riding it out for now. Picker eventually gives up the hold.

Picker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Perez defends it well.

No joy there for Picker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Perez gets caught napping as Picker dives in and scores a takedown. Perez manages to retain guard.

Perez misses with a two punch combination.

Picker had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Perez defends it easily.

Picker lands a big shot there that rocks Perez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Picker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Shane Picker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Picker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Perez is looking to escape.

Perez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Perez shoots in and bounces Picker off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Picker is pulling down on Perez's head. It's preventing any offense from Perez, at least for the moment.

Picker is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Perez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Picker feints and as Perez raises his hands in defense, Picker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Picker's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Picker engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Picker stands and throws Perez's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Picker creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Perez takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Picker tries to pass the half guard into mount. Perez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gruby Perez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Shane Picker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Picker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shane Picker showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Picker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
