PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rebaldo Louza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Julio Garcia was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rebaldo Louza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Louza pushes Garcia up against the cage in a clinch.

Garcia drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Louza dives on top into guard.

Louza has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Louza content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Louza closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Louza lands in his opponent's guard.

Garcia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Louza doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Louza manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Louza thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Louza cracks Garcia with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Garcia tries to reverse the position but Louza maintains control.

Louza with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Garcia is squirming around, avoiding Louza's attempts to control the action.

Rebaldo Louza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Garcia stops Louza from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Louza wants to control the pace but Garcia is squirming around nicely.

Louza forces the positional change into back control.
Louza is trying to stick to Garcia's back but Garcia is turning into Louza. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Louza's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Garcia.
