Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Morgernstern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roz Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roz Dee will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Morgernstern!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roz Dee!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Morgernstern circles away quickly and effectively.
Dee misses with a straight left.
Morgernstern tries a head kick but it misses.
Matt Morgernstern seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dee throws a big shot that misses.
Some bone on bone action there as Morgernstern checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Dee throws a left and a right that both miss
and Morgernstern counters with a head kick. That will keep Dee thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Dee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Morgernstern moves away.

Morgernstern fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dee sprawls well initially but Morgernstern persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Morgernstern is looking for a kimura here.
Dee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morgernstern. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dee is trying to stand back up but Morgernstern is controlling him

Dee wants to get back to full guard.

Morgernstern is working for a submission of some sort.
Morgernstern is trying to control. Dee wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Morgernstern looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dee is trying to maintain the position but Morgernstern is very close to passing his half guard.

Morgernstern is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Morgernstern is trying to work for a kimura but Dee is defending well.

Morgernstern is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Morgernstern is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dee has managed to free his arm - good work.

Morgernstern keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Dee trying to control here.
Morgernstern tries to pass to full mount but Dee defends it.
Morgernstern is looking to pass Dee's guard but actually Dee recovers to full guard.
Morgernstern trying to control the position from guard on top but Dee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Morgernstern shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Morgernstern fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dee, pushing him back against the cage.
Dee is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Morgernstern manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Dee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Morgernstern is keeping the position for now.
Morgernstern looking for a sweep. Not yet Morgernstern, not yet.
Morgernstern manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
A nice elbow there by Morgernstern.

Morgernstern has hold of Dee's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dee manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Dee wants to try and get back to his feet.

Morgernstern goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dee turns into him and now he's in Morgernstern's guard.

Dee stands up and waves to Morgernstern to follow him.
Morgernstern looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morgernstern cracks the inside of Dee's front leg.
Morgernstern scores with a nice body kick.
Morgernstern pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Roz Dee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dee scores with a nice head shot.
Morgernstern slips a jab and a cross from Dee.
Morgernstern shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dee but Dee pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A combination from Dee does no damage.
Morgernstern tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dee paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dee has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Morgernstern.
Morgernstern tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Morgernstern closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morgernstern frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dee tries to lock up and control but Morgernstern gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Dee wants to get back to his feet.
Morgernstern is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Morgernstern throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Morgernstern is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dee has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dee!

Morgernstern is looking for a triangle but Dee pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dee has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Morgernstern is proving hard to escape from.
Morgernstern is adopting a defensive guard.
Dee wanted to stand there but Morgernstern had control of the position.

Dee looking to improve position, pressing down on Morgernstern's thigh with his hand. Morgernstern seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Dee paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Dee's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Morgernstern picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
