PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kennedy Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfonso Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michaels comes to the cage accompanied by Folsom Prison Blues cover by Everlast. Sosa has chosen Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kennedy Michaels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alfonso Sosa!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michaels tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Michaels doesn't manage to clinch there - Sosa circles away.
Michaels lands a nice looking body kick.
Michaels slips under a jab.
Michaels defending well as Sosa loads up on a big left hand.
Michaels slips a jab and a cross from Sosa.
Michaels lets loose with a powerful body kick. Sosa will feel that in the morning.
Michaels cracks the inside of Sosa's front leg.

Sosa throws a predictable looking body shot
and Sosa takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
No joy there for Michaels, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sosa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Sosa throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Michaels lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Michaels thows a body kick. Sosa tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Sosa throws out a loose jab but Michaels uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sosa lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Michaels throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Michaels fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sosa is out of range.

Sosa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Michaels digs a good body shot into Sosa's ribs.

Michaels moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Michaels steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sosa.

Michaels throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sosa keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Michaels moves in looking to clinch but Sosa pushes him off.
Michaels lands a leg kick that knocks Sosa off balance momentarily.

Michaels closes the distance and pushes Sosa back into the cage.
Michaels misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sosa.
Michaels is trying to maintain a safe position but Sosa gets an underhook and turns Michaels into the cage.

Sosa is looking to control Michaels's arms but Michaels gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sosa has his back to the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Sosa tries a body shot but Michaels blocks it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Michaels's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Michaels throws a head kick that misses
and Sosa counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sosa looks to score with a jab to the body but Michaels is just out of range.

Sosa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Michaels.
Michaels tries to clinch but Sosa is having none of it.
Sosa digs a good body shot into Michaels's ribs.
Sosa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sosa connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Michaels misses with a wild body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kennedy Michaels will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Sosa sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Sosa checks a leg kick.
Sosa loads up on a big right hand but Michaels slips the punch.
Sosa tries to bum rush Michaels with a series of wild strikes but Michaels uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sosa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Michaels was well out of range. Poor timing from Sosa.
Michaels tries to clinch up but Sosa circles away and keeps his distance.

Kennedy Michaels is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sosa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Michaels manages to avoid it.

enabling Sosa to counter with a crisp jab.
Sosa misses the jab.
Sosa's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Michaels tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sosa swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Michaels connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Sosa is breathing heavily.
Michaels wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Michaels has taken the fight to the clinch.

Michaels manages to break the clinch.
Sosa gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Michaels points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Sosa wakes up just in time to hear Michaels thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kennedy Michaels!
Kennedy Michaels decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
