The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva moves into the clinch successfully.
Arona looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Silva controlling the action here for a moment.

Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Arona as Silva shoots in.

Arona gets caught flat footed, as Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Silva wants to control from the top but Arona keeps moving.
Silva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Negrete Silva wasn't active enough on the ground.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Arona saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Arona which made him look bad.

Silva tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Arona pulls guard effortlessly.
Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Arona fails with the takedown

and Silva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Silva chips away with some ground and pound.
Silva passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Silva decides to stand back up. Silva steps back and let's Arona get back to his feet.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Arona shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Arona is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Silva.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Silva is trying to control. Arona wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Silva tries to stand but can't do so whilst Arona controls his leg.
Silva is taking a breather. Arona says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Arona is defending well.

Arona pushes Silva off looking to stand but Silva dives back in and keeps control.

Silva seems to be working for a kimura but Arona defends the submission attempt.
Silva is pressing down on Arona's thigh, looking to free his foot. Arona is holding on for now.
Silva wants to control but Arona is keeping him busy.

Silva is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
