Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Nakahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Whiskey Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Johnson's choice of entrance music: Piano has been drinking- Tom Waits. Whiskey Johnson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nakahara drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nakahara knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.

Johnson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Johnson has Nakahara pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Johnson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nakahara tumbling to the mat - Johnson dives into Nakahara's guard.

Johnson manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Nakahara throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.
Nakahara closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Nakahara pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Shinji Nakahara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Whiskey Johnson.

Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Johnson is looking to clinch but Nakahara is avoiding it.

Nakahara changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

and Nakahara counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Johnson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nakahara closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nakahara doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nakahara manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nakahara has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Johnson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Nakahara puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Johnson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nakahara's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nakahara's back!

Nakahara is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Johnson gets his way!
