PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riley Free (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Riley Free was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beam scores with a one two! Free had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Riley Free has been cut.
Beam throws a body punch but Free moves out of range.
Beam rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Free moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Free throws a head kick that misses.

Beam lands a left and a right that send Free crashing to the mat, dazed. Beam thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Free showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Beam.
Beam looks to score with a jab to the body but Free is just out of range.

Free shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Free was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Beam tries to hold on but Free pushes him away.
Free takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Free is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Beam is surviving well by controlling Free's body position as best he can.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Free jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Beam manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Free postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Beam is in a horrible position here. Free smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Free throwing strikes here but Beam is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Free is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Beam can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Free is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Beam to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Beam shrugs it off.

Free is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Beam defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Free has the hooks in. Beam is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Well, with Free on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Beam is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
