Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Willabee Raggs !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paulo Anchorez!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raggs leaves Anchorez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Raggs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anchorez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Anchorez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Raggs gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Raggs is looking to work some ground and pound but Anchorez has wrist control.

Raggs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anchorez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Raggs drops back looking for a leg! Anchorez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Anchorez manages to kick Raggs off! Raggs jumps back into Anchorez's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Raggs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Anchorez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Raggs defends well.

Raggs is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Anchorez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Anchorez has escaped and now he's on top!

Raggs has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Anchorez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Willabee Raggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Anchorez.
Anchorez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Anchorez tries to bum rush Raggs with a series of wild strikes but Raggs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Anchorez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Raggs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Anchorez somewhat.
Anchorez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Raggs lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Raggs .


It looks like Paulo Anchorez has been cut.

That's five minutes gone in the round.

Raggs drives through and clinches with Anchorez against the cage.

Raggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Raggs shoots in but no luck this time.
Raggs cracks Anchorez with a right hand to the side of the head.
Anchorez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Raggs dives in and grabs Anchorez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Anchorez pushes down on Raggs 's head and hops out.
Raggs throws out a powerful jab.
Raggs is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Anchorez wants to clinch up but Raggs keeps it at a distance.
Anchorez shoots in looking for a takedown but Raggs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Anchorez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Raggs stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Raggs wants it to stay on the feet.
Anchorez takes a swing at Raggs 's ribcage but misses.
Raggs scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Raggs gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Anchorez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Raggs !
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Raggs is desperately trying to improve his position but Anchorez has a good base and remains in mount.
