PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arttu Attila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maciej Igielski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Igielski comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Three Days Grace - The Good Life kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arttu Attila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maciej Igielski!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Attila shoots in but no luck this time.

Igielski instigates a clinch.
Igielski prevents the takedown attempt.

Attila dodges the punch combination from Igielski.
Igielski slaps away a takedown attempt from Attila, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Attila shoots in looking for a takedown. Igielski tries to sprawl out of it but Attila keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Igielski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Attila fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Igielski to the ground. Attila is now in Igielski's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Attila drops back looking for a leg! Igielski is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Igielski manages to kick Attila off! Attila jumps back into Igielski's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Igielski has his foot on Attila's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Attila works his way back into a safe position though.

Attila shoots in but Igielski avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Attila shoots for a takedown but Igielski saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Attila is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Attila is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Attila takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Attila tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Igielski swivels and escapes.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Attila tries to score a power double leg takedown but Igielski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Attila somewhat.

Igielski throws a nice looking combination but Attila bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Igielski lands a nice leg kick that just misses Attila's sensitive parts.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Attila closes the distance and clinches up with Igielski, looking for a takedown. Attila pushes Igielski against the cage but Igielski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Igielski has control of Attila's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Attila regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Igielski cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Igielski looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Attila is desperately trying to improve his position but Igielski has a good base and remains in mount.

Maciej Igielski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Attila shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Igielski manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Attila lands a couple of digs.

Attila gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Attila throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Igielski's waist but Igielski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Attila off to one side.
Attila looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Igielski tries to bum rush Attila with a series of wild strikes but Attila uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Maciej Igielski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Attila changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Igielski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Arttu Attila overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Attila looks to land a strike but Igielski avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Attila is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Attila is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Igielski is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Igielski has escaped and now he's on top!
Igielski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Igielski wanted to stand there but Attila had control of the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Arttu Attila showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Attila has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Arttu Attila spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
