Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Juan Alejandro Solano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Larry Monthan!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Monthan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Monthan looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Monthan is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Solano is surviving well by controlling Monthan's body position as best he can.
Solano is in all sorts of trouble here.

Monthan goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Solano is on top in guard.
Monthan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Monthan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Larry Monthan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Solano throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Monthan moves into the clinch.

Monthan breaks the clinch.

Monthan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Solano is looking to improve his position.

Monthan wants to work for an arm triangle but Solano is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Monthan is working for a submission of some sort.
Solano makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Solano.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larry Monthan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Solano misses with a few strikes there.
Monthan throws a lazy right hand but Solano sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Solano ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Monthan moves away.
Monthan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Solano.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monthan clinches.
Monthan pushes Solano back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Solano tries for a takedown but Monthan manages to get underhooks.
Solano wants to take the fight to the mat but Monthan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Monthan decides to pull guard.

Monthan pushes a forearm under Solano's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Solano is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Larry Monthan!
