PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Morlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that George Coleman has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily George Coleman seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Xavier Morlin!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Morlin circles away quickly and effectively.
Morlin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Coleman.

Coleman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Coleman stands up.
Morlin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Coleman stuffs the takedown attempt from Morlin. Morlin gets slowly back to his feet.
No joy there for Coleman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Coleman shoots in for a takedown but Morlin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Coleman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Morlin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coleman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Morlin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Coleman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Morlin shoots in looking for a takedown. Coleman tries to sprawl out of it but Morlin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coleman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Coleman is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Morlin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Morlin shrugs it off.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morlin is bucking up trying to escape but Coleman cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Coleman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coleman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Morlin is surviving well by controlling Coleman's body position as best he can.

Morlin wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Coleman looking to finish Morlin with some ground and pound. This is bad for Morlin!
Coleman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
You get the feeling that Morlin really doesn't like being in this position too much.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Morlin shoots for a double leg takedown but Coleman sprawls well. He's pushed Morlin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
