Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jill Benkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Murt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benkins's entrance music is Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. A fine choice. Murt has chosen I like to move it as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murt tries to clinch up.

Benkins shoots in and bounces Murt off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Benkins postures up in Murt's guard and throws a big left but Murt blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murt tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Murt keeping full guard, as Benkins tries to pass.
Benkins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Murt works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Benkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Murt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Benkins is looking to work some ground and pound but Murt has wrist control.

Benkins wants to pass the guard but Murt is keeping the position.
Benkins throws an elbow that misses. Murt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Benkins's guard. Nice move by Murt!

Benkins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Murt is one step ahead there.

Benkins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Benkins tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Murt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Benkins swivels though and keeps the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Benkins is on top in guard.

Benkins wants to pass the guard but Murt is keeping the position.
Benkins works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Murt is trying to control but can't.
Murt is pressing down on Benkins's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Benkins postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Benkins wants to pass the guard but Murt is keeping the position.
Benkins in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Benkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Benkins is pushing down on Murt's leg trying to pass to half guard. Murt is fighting to maintain full guard but Benkins has managed to sneak the leg through.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Benkins is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Benkins connects with a nice short shot to Murt's temple.
Benkins working over Murt with some ground and pound. Murt looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Benkins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Benkins is looking to advance position but Murt won't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Benkins wants to work for an arm triangle but Murt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Benkins wants to free his trapped foot but Murt is holding on for dear life with his legs.

and Benkins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Matthew Murt.
Benkins misses the shot to the body.
Murt throws a half hearted mid kick.
Benkins throws a wild body kick that Murt sees coming a mile off.
Benkins stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Murt.
Matthew Murt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Benkins misses with a body shot.
Benkins tries a low kick but Murt avoids it.
Murt tries to close the distance and clinch but Benkins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Benkins seems to be looking for submissions.

Benkins has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Murt defend it? Benkins steps over the head and cranks it - Murt is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Benkins!
