PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cyprien Noe Cyr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jones might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Welcome to the Terrordome. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Jones clinches with his opponent.

Jones successfully pulls guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cyr trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Cyr stands up and waves to Jones to follow him.
Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.

Cyr clinches with his opponent.

Jones has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cyr clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones is throwing strikes by Cyr counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Cyr regains half guard.
Cyr slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Cyr is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones stays in close to Cyr's body and controls the position.
Cyr keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jones is fighting to break Cyr's control of his arms but Cyr is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Rocky Jones wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Cyr rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jones has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cyr uses from the top position.
Cyr sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard.

Cyr is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jones sees it coming and defends easily.

Cyr is looking for a kimura here.

Cyr is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cyr wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
Cyr is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jones moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones is working an open guard so Cyr takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cyr avoids the body shot from Jones.

Cyr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cyr looking to throw knees to the head but Jones is blocking nicely.

Jones has Cyr pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jones pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cyr tumbling to the mat - Jones dives into Cyr's guard.

Jones is looking to sweep but instead, Cyr has passed into half guard.
Jones wants to control but Cyr is keeping busy.
Jones is not content to let Cyr control the position.

Cyr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

Cyr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Cyr has control of the leg.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cyr is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Jones as he works his way to full guard.
Jones looking for a sweep. Not yet Jones, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rocky Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

It looks like Cyprien Noe Cyr has been cut.
Cyr tries to hold on but Jones postures up.
Jones scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Cyr is still in real trouble! Can Jones finish him?

That has opened up Cyprien Noe Cyr's cut even more.

Jones has control of Cyr's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cyr regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jones prevents Cyr from getting the reversal.
Jones drops a big elbow. That's hurt Cyr! More shots from Jones and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rocky Jones!
