Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Greg Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Greg Dixon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Blaze!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Dixon clinches with his opponent.

Blaze breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Dixon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dixon won't allow Blaze to get back to his feet.
Dixon controls from within his opponent's guard.
Blaze wants to get back to his feet but Dixon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Blaze pulls Dixon in to control the position.
Blaze is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Johnny Blaze hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Blaze fails with the takedown.

Dixon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Blaze tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dixon is in Blaze's guard.
Blaze looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dixon is one step ahead there.
Blaze controls Dixon momentarily but Dixon frees himself.

Blaze has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dixon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dixon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Blaze pulls Dixon in close to his closed guard and prevents Dixon from doing any damage or advancing position.

Blaze is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Blaze is on top in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Greg Dixon.

Dixon shoots in but no luck this time.
Blaze rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dixon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Dixon throws a right hand that Blaze ducks under and follows up with a left that Blaze also avoids with ease.
Dixon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blaze pinned against the cage. Blaze gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Blaze shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dixon defends it nicely.

Blaze bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blaze is looking to take a break and control but Dixon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Blaze stands up and beckons Dixon to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnny Blaze will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Blaze tries to clinch but Dixon is having none of it.
Blaze shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dixon defends it nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blaze is defended easily by Dixon.

Blaze fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Blaze is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dixon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Blaze is breathing heavily.
Nice straight punches there by Dixon. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Dixon.

Dixon drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Blaze gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Blaze is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Dixon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blaze defends it well.
Blaze tries to roll over but Dixon keeps him under control.
Dixon passes to side control.
Blaze tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dixon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Dixon prevents Blaze from escaping the position.
Blaze tries to buck Dixon off but Dixon is having none of it.
Dixon is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Blaze's shoulder. That is not cool.

Blaze is trying to control Dixon's posture but Dixon avoids it.
Dixon trying to control the position but Blaze is working away.

Blaze gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Dixon is just content to waste time from the top position. Blaze takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Dixon lands a couple of digs.
Blaze looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dixon is one step ahead there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dixon with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Dixon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Dixon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blaze as he avoids it easily.

Blaze closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dixon is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Blaze stands up.
Nice body kick there by Blaze.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dixon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A punch combination from Blaze misses.
Blaze looks to throw the jab but Dixon is out of range.
Blaze misses with a head kick.

Blaze gets the takedown into side control.

Blaze decides to stand back up. Blaze steps back and let's Dixon get back to his feet.
Dixon lands a nice shot that snaps Blaze's head back.

Dixon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Blaze quickly recovers to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dixon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Blaze is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dixon prevents Blaze from standing back up.
Dixon performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Dixon is pressing down on Blaze's thigh, looking to free his foot. Blaze is holding on for now.

Dixon is thwarting Blaze's attempts to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dixon moves in looking to clinch but Blaze pushes him off.
Dixon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Blaze swivels and escapes.
Dixon has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Dixon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blaze scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Blaze misses with a head kick.

Dixon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Dixon seems to be working for a kimura but Blaze defends the submission attempt.
Blaze makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blaze.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blaze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dixon's corner is telling him to maintain position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Johnny Blaze.
I think Blaze has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
