The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cheez gets the takedown into side control.

Cheez with a lazy takedown attempt

and Pegues decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cheez's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cheez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pegues controls the pace.

Pegues decides to return to a standing position.
Cheez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pegues shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cheez sprawls well. Cheez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pegues gets slowly back to his feet.
Pegues tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cheez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
