Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lamont Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Dixon's choice of entrance music: Dark Tranquillity - Iridium. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lamont Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Dixon!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon looks to throw the jab but Banner is out of range.
Dixon throws a lazy uppercut
and Banner counters with a left to the body.
Banner takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Dixon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Banner sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Dixon waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Banner.
Banner shoots in and drives through. Dixon sprawls well.
Dixon looks to score with a jab to the body but Banner is just out of range.
Banner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dixon's waist but Dixon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Banner off to one side.

Lamont Banner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A decent looking cross lands there for Banner.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dixon closes the distance and clinches up with Banner, looking for a takedown. Dixon pushes Banner against the cage but Banner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Banner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dixon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dixon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dixon passes easily into side control. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Banner is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dixon's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Banner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dixon connects with a nice short shot to Banner's temple.

Banner has gone for a leg lock! Dixon slips out almost immediately though and dives into Banner's guard.

Banner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dixon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dixon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Joey Dixon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Banner drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dixon manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Banner has Dixon in his guard.

Dixon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banner tries to avoid it but Dixon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banner to the ground. Banner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lamont Banner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Dixon.
Donk. Banner catches Dixon right on the button with a cross.
Dixon throws a right and a left that Banner avoids nicely.
Banner lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Joey Dixon has been cut.
Dixon looks to land a right hand but Banner moved out of range.
Banner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dixon pinned against the cage. Dixon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Lamont Banner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dixon throws the left hand but Banner avoids the punch easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Banner shoots in but Dixon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Banner shoots in for a takedown but Dixon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dixon gets a takedown into half guard.
Dixon moves into full mount! Banner won't be happy about that!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Joey Dixon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Dixon winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
