PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil McCracken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iso Paha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCracken comes to the cage accompanied by Cemetery Gates by Pantera. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil McCracken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Iso Paha!
The judges for this bout are , and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCracken has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Paha finds it's way round the side to connect with McCracken's head.
Paha on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
McCracken throws a jab but it's blocked by Paha.
McCracken throws a hook but Paha blocks it.
Paha throws a nice looking combination but McCracken bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A decent looking cross lands there for Paha.
A leg kick checked by Paha.
Paha circles away from the clinch attempt.

Paha instigates a clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
McCracken with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Paha gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

McCracken looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Paha works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Paha is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Paha working over McCracken with some ground and pound. McCracken looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Paha keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Paha thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McCracken's head.
Paha takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Paha's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Despite being in the dominant position, Iso Paha just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Paha blocks a low kick nicely.
McCracken throws out a loose jab but Paha uses good head movement to avoid it.
Paha chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McCracken can pounce on him.
Paha checks the leg kick nicely there.
McCracken gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
McCracken throws a leg kick but Paha sees it coming and moves out of range.
Paha lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
McCracken misses with a body kick.
A low kick from McCracken is predictable there
and Paha cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McCracken is breathing heavily.
McCracken tries to clinch
and Paha counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

McCracken on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Paha takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
McCracken takes a shot right to the bread basket.
McCracken throws a right and a left that both miss.
Paha lands with a straight right. McCracken didn't see that one coming.

Paha decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

McCracken is looking to improve his position.
Paha thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Paha has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

McCracken has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Paha is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McCracken throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Iso Paha has been cut.
McCracken looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
McCracken throws a head kick that misses
and Paha makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Paha moves out of range as McCracken throws a body kick.
Paha is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!McCracken had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Some bone on bone action there as Paha checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Paha circles away from the clinch attempt.
McCracken takes a swing at Paha's ribcage but misses.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Paha slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Iso Paha dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Iso Paha's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Paha lands a really nice looking cross but McCracken seems unphased.
Paha keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McCracken tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
McCracken throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McCracken goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Paha lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! McCracken crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Paha - the referee stops the clock and McCracken gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Paha. McCracken manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Paha has taken the fight to the clinch.

McCracken plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


Paha is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McCracken shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Paha as he jumps to the side.
Paha is still on wobbly legs! Can McCracken finish him?
Paha tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Paha throws a nice looking combination but McCracken bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Paha seems to have recovered his senses.
McCracken throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Paha looks to throw the jab but McCracken is out of range.
McCracken fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil McCracken. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Paha breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Paha lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

A punch lands to the side of McCracken 's head but he takes it in his stride.
McCracken has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from McCracken there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Paha connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Paha wants to clinch up but McCracken keeps it at a distance.
Paha throws a series of strikes that have McCracken backpedaling.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Paha shoots for a double leg takedown but McCracken sprawls well. He's pushed Paha's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McCracken is looking to score with low kicks.

and Paha counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McCracken is desperately trying to improve his position but Paha has a good base and remains in mount.
Paha lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Iso Paha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


McCracken has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Paha.
Paha lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
McCracken misses with a hook. Paha ducked under it nicely.

Paha closes the distance and clinches.
Paha tries to land a knee to the head but McCracken blocks with his arms.
McCracken prevents the takedown attempt.

Paha breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Paha scores with a crisp jab that stopped McCracken in his tracks.
Paha lands an overhand right.
McCracken looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Paha, as that shot connected.
McCracken takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Paha scores with a hook to the body. McCracken takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Paha drops down looking for an ankle pick but McCracken pulls his leg out and moves away.

Iso Paha comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Paha has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
