PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hessu Hopo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hopo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Bodies. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopo walks into a left hand.
Hopo scores with the left hand. Hart knows he should have avoided that one.
Hart bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Good standup being displayed there by Hart as he connects with a hook.
Hart swats away the attempt to clinch by Hopo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hart throws a body punch but Hopo moves out of range.
Hopo throws out a loose jab but Hart uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hart swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hopo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Hopo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hart.
Hart takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Hart lands with a nice body punch.

Hart misses with a body shot.
Hopo stalks Hart and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hart's face. Hart staggers backwards, shaken.
Hart just misses with a punch to the body.
Hart throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Horrible takedown by Hart or perhaps it was just good defense by Hopo which made him look bad.
Hart looks gassed!
Hopo misses with a straight right.
Hart waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hopo.

Hopo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hart looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hopo postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hart gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Hopo throwing shots but Hart is blocking nicely.
Hopo prevents Hart from improving his position.
Hopo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hopo is looking to take a break and control but Hart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hopo is looking for a kimura but Hart is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hopo to get the leverage.
Hopo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Hopo seems to be working for a kimura but Hart defends the submission attempt.
Hopo thows a huge punch but Hart dodges it nicely.

Hart is trying to get back to full guard.
Hopo missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Hopo prevents Hart from improving his position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hopo pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hart tries to lock up and control but Hopo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hart manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Hopo slips a nice elbow through Hart's hands, connecting with Hart's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hessu Hopo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hopo dives in and grabs Hart's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hart pushes down on Hopo's head and hops out.
Hart pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hart throws a series of punches but Hopo avoids them all with ease.
Hart avoids the body shot from Hopo.
Hart cracks Hopo with an open hand slap.
Hart throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Hart is breathing heavily.
Hopo lands a jab to the head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hart. Hopo does a little dance to reset his feet.

so Hopo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Hopo wants to control from the top but Hart keeps moving.
Hopo working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hart's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hart keeping full guard, as Hopo tries to pass.

Hopo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hart dives on top into guard.
Hopo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hart is one step ahead there.
Hart pushing down on Hopo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Hopo tries to get to full guard but Hart has control of the leg.

Hopo wants to control but Hart is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hopo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hopo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hart seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hopo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hopo is in trouble now - Hart has advanced to mount!
Hopo is wriggling around trying to escape.
A nice elbow there by Hart.
Hart scoring with strikes but Hopo is staying in there.
Hart is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hopo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Hopo tries to reverse the position but Hart maintains control.
Hart cracks Hopo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hart looking to finish Hopo with some ground and pound. This is bad for Hopo!
Hart lands a big shot there that rocks Hopo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hart lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Hart lands a big shot to the head and Hopo winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
