Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between QL Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, QL Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gracie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hicks looks to land a right hand but Gracie moved out of range.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hicks fails with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. Hicks fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hicks looking to control but Gracie passes into half guard.
Gracie prevents Hicks from improving his position.
Hicks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hicks is looking to get back to full guard here but Gracie has managed to pass to side control instead.

Hicks is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Hicks tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.
Hicks is working hard here to advance position.
Hicks can't do much from the bottom here.
Hicks is looking for a sweep.
Hicks manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gracie's best efforts.
Hicks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hicks won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Hicks works his way to full guard. Good work.
Gracie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hicks is proving hard to escape from.
Hicks wants to sweep but no luck.
Hicks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gracie manages to get himself to full guard.
Hicks looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie won't allow Hicks to sweep him here.
Hicks is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hicks throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gracie escapes and throws Hicks's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hicks is not content to let Gracie control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

QL Hicks dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Hicks shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gracie as he jumps to the side.
Hicks misses with a shot to the body
and Gracie counters with a head kick.
Gracie on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hicks tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Hicks.
Hicks connects with a crisp jab.
Gracie throws a nice looking combination but Hicks bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hicks waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gracie.
Gracie misses with a two punch combination.
Hicks fails with the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hicks loads up on a big right hand but Gracie slips the punch.
Gracie doesn't manage to clinch there - Hicks circles away.
Gracie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hicks finds it's way round the side to connect with Gracie's head.

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hicks's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for QL Hicks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hicks wants to hit a switch here but Gracie passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hicks there!
Hicks looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hicks breaks Gracie's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Hicks stands and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gracie managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hicks.
QL Hicks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The ground and pound from Hicks seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Hicks throws an elbow but Gracie slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hicks lands a few punches from side control.
Hicks trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hicks throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Gracie regains half guard, as Hicks was trying to land strikes.
Hicks is looking to pass Gracie's guard but actually Gracie recovers to full guard.
Hicks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hicks in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hicks postures up in Gracie's guard and throws a big left but Gracie blocks it.

Gracie manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Hicks throws a hook but Gracie avoids it easily.
QL Hicks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hicks misses with a lunging right hand
and Gracie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hicks closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away.
Gracie is looking to clinch.

Gracie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gracie lands in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

QL Hicks dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Hicks clobbers Gracie with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Gracie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hicks.
Hicks lands a nice hook to Gracie's body. Gracie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hicks throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.
Hicks circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gracie tries to clinch up.

Hicks drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hicks misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Gracie wants to get back to his feet but Hicks drags him back down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is trying to escape the position but Hicks is controlling the position.
Gracie wants to get back to his feet.
Hicks wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.
Gracie is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hicks asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Hicks misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Gracie is pushing Hicks's head away, looking to escape. Hicks manages to hold on to the position though.
Hicks connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gracie some visible discomfort.
Gracie regains half guard, as Hicks was trying to land strikes.
Hicks passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gracie!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hicks throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Hicks throws a wild left hand from mount and Gracie manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Hicks with the ground and pound but Gracie uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Gracie is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hicks is controlling him.
Hicks trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Gracie manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hicks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Hicks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hicks lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gracie!
Ryan Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie really wants to buck Hicks off and get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
QL Hicks showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hicks has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
