PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Inigo Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Montoya might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Reptile Theme by Skrillex. Maynard has chosen do it as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mathew Maynard!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard blocks a low kick nicely.

Maynard cracks Montoya with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Maynard throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Montoya because Maynard loaded up on that one.
Montoya is working to get back to half guard.

Montoya tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Montoya tries to lock up and control but Maynard gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Maynard postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Montoya looks a forlorn figure.

It looks like Inigo Montoya has been cut.
Montoya is looking to improve his position but Maynard isn't that keen on the idea.
Maynard is landing with some decent strikes but Montoya is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Inigo Montoya's cut is getting worse.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Montoya holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Maynard tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
