The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoost throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hoost misses with a head kick.
Maggio lands a head kick. Hoost smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Hoost wants to clinch.

and Maggio counters with a slapping leg kick.
Hoost chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Maggio can pounce on him.

and Maggio counters by clinching up.
Hoost is working for takedown but Maggio is calmly controlling the position for now.
Maggio lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Hoost throws a knee to the head but misses.
Maggio pushes Hoost back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Maggio dodges an elbow strike from Hoost.

Maggio creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Hoost's defenses.
Maggio lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Maggio with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Maggio blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Maggio lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Maggio has Hoost pressed against the cage, preventing Hoost from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Hoost tries to break free but Maggio pushes him back against the cage.
Maggio stops a takedown attempt from Hoost.
Maggio connects with a nasty looking knee right to Hoost's face.

Hoost is rocked!
Maggio jerks Hoost's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Hoost drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Maggio goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Maggio because Hoost was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

After winning the bout, Tony Maggio thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
