Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rousimar Toquinho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Sampson!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toquinho swats away the attempt to clinch by Sampson.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Toquinho is on top in guard.

Toquinho drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Toquinho jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sampson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sampson wants to sweep here but Toquinho controlling him for the moment.

Toquinho drops back looking for a leg! Sampson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sampson manages to kick Toquinho off! Toquinho jumps back into Sampson's guard.
Sampson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Toquinho manages to get himself to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Toquinho might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sampson throws a big elbow that misses.
Toquinho is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Toquinho enables Sampson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Toquinho manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Toquinho throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sampson's waist but Sampson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Toquinho off to one side.

Sampson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Toquinho to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sampson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sampson showed some decent athleticism there.
Sampson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Toquinho drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sampson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Toquinho is trying to drag Sampson to the mat but Sampson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Sampson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Sampson looks up at the clock and then as Toquinho takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sampson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Sampson is looking to take a break and control but Toquinho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sampson throws a strike aimed at the side of Toquinho's head but Toquinho avoids it well.
Toquinho wants to control but Sampson postures up.
Fedor Sampson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sampson decides to stand back up.

and Sampson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Toquinho won't be happy with that.

Sampson throws a leg kick but Toquinho moved away.
Toquinho tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sampson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Toquinho somewhat.

Toquinho gets tackled into the cage by Sampson. Sampson maintains the clinch.

Sampson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Toquinho won't allow Sampson to sweep him here.

Toquinho drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sampson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sampson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sampson!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Sampson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Toquinho's guard.

Toquinho shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
