PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Spede Jussi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leopold Olic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Olic has chosen The People That We Love as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Spede Jussi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Leopold Olic!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olic stuffs the takedown attempt from Jussi. Jussi gets slowly back to his feet.
Jussi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Olic avoids it really well and circles away.
Jussi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Olic but Olic pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spede Jussi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Olic stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Olic wants it to stay on the feet.
Olic swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Olic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jussi dodges the punch combination from Olic.
A punch combination from Olic misses.
Olic lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Olic scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Olic throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Olic pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jussi back to the cage. Olic follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Jussi misses with a takedown attempt - Olic sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Olic bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jussi's head backwards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Olic swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Jussi fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Jussi with that takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jussi.
Olic fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Jussi shoots and misses
and Olic counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Olic lands with a right hand.

Jussi is rocked!
Olic displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jussi.
Oh Jussi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jussi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jussi lands in his opponent's guard.
Jussi is breathing heavily.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Olic is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jussi seems to have got his legs back now.
Jussi is not content to let Olic control the position.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jussi moves into full guard.
Olic trying to control the position from guard on top but Jussi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jussi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jussi tries to get out of the position.

Jussi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Olic defends it easily.
Olic with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jussi wants to sweep but no luck.
Jussi wants to hit a switch here but Olic passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jussi there!
Olic working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Jussi is looking to improve his position but Olic isn't that keen on the idea.

Olic throws some wild stikes that Jussi manages to avoid easily.
Olic won't let Jussi get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Olic looking to control but Jussi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jussi regains half guard.
Olic is controlling the pace.
Olic is trying to control the action in half guard but Jussi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jussi has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Olic. Oh but Jussi has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Olic goes limp - he's gone! Jussi jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Spede Jussi!
In his post fight interview, Spede Jussi started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
