Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Major Lazer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Rourke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Rourke is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Major Lazer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Rourke!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lazer misses with a takedown

so Rourke counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lazer throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Lazer is adopting a defensive guard.
Lazer keeping full guard, as Rourke tries to pass.
Rourke postures up in Lazer's guard and throws a big left but Lazer blocks it.
Lazer looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lazer has his hands on Rourke's head, controlling the position.
Lazer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rourke is one step ahead there.
Rourke is working Lazer over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lazer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rourke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lazer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Rourke lands a couple of digs.
Lazer keeping moving, preventing Rourke from controlling successfully.
Lazer wants to sweep but no luck.
Rourke loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rourke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rourke trying to control but Lazer is working from the bottom.
Rourke postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lazer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Major Lazer wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Lazer rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rourke counters with a three punch combo that has Lazer backing up. Lazer nods at Rourke to acknowledge the strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rourke looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rourke shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lazer as he avoids it easily.

and Lazer takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rourke is looking to clinch but Lazer is avoiding it.
Lazer shoots in for a takedown but Rourke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Major Lazer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Lazer. No joy for Rourke on that attempt.

Lazer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rourke looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lazer throws an elbow that misses. Rourke uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lazer's guard. Nice move by Rourke!

Rourke must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rourke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lazer is keeping the position for now.
Rourke wants to control from the top but Lazer keeps moving.
Lazer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rourke is not content to let Lazer control the position.

Lazer is looking to take a break and control but Rourke is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lazer is trying to work for a kimura but Rourke is defending well.
Rourke flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Rourke is looking to improve his position.
Lazer trying to pass the guard but Rourke defending well.
Lazer wants to advance to full mount but Rourke doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rourke wants to sweep here but Lazer controlling him for the moment.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sam Rourke will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rourke closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lazer circles away.

Rourke feints and as Lazer raises his hands in defense, Rourke changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rourke won't allow Lazer to sweep him here.

Lazer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Lazer gets caught napping as Rourke dives in and scores a takedown. Lazer manages to retain guard.

Lazer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rourke defends it easily.

Lazer pushes Rourke off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lazer is on top in guard.

That's time! Lazer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Lazer uses his free foot to push down on Rourke's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rourke.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lazer cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lazer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lazer jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rourke manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Lazer lands an elbow.
Lazer scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Rourke is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Lazer can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Major Lazer!
A very excited looking Major Lazer made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
