Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vik Ben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Petrovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrovich has chosen Казаки as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vik Ben!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Petrovich!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ben tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ben misses with a straight right.
Ben lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ben.
A shot to the liver by Ben. Beautiful body shot.
Ben throws a nice looking combination but Petrovich bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Petrovich scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Petrovich looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ben with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petrovich is looking to take a break and control but Ben is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ben regains full guard. Nicely done.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Petrovich working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ben's head.
Ben wants to sweep here but Petrovich controlling him for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Petrovich can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ben slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Petrovich is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ben is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Petrovich scores with a couple of nice shots.

Ben is looking to improve his position.
Petrovich takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Petrovich is nestled in close to Ben, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Petrovich connects with a nice short shot to Ben's temple.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Petrovich working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A slow jab from Ben misses its intended target.
Petrovich takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Ben defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Petrovich.

Petrovich closes the distance and pushes Ben back into the cage.

Petrovich breaks the clinch.
Ben slaps away a takedown attempt from Petrovich, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Petrovich takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ben displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Petrovich.
Vik Ben has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Petrovich.

Petrovich loads up on a big right hand but Ben slips the punch.

Ben looks to score with a jab to the body but Petrovich is just out of range.
Ben throws an overhand right that lands on Petrovich's shoulder, as Petrovich tries to avoid the shot.
Petrovich shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ben but Ben pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ben swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Petrovich tries to close the distance and clinch but Ben swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Petrovich is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ben sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Ben looks to land a combination but Petrovich avoids it well.

Petrovich tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ben knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ben is controlling Petrovich's trapped leg to prevent Petrovich from advancing to side control.
Ben has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Petrovich is working away from the top position though.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Petrovich throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

We're going to have a standup here because Vik Ben wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Petrovich fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ben avoids it really well and circles away.

Petrovich throws a nice looking combination but Ben bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ben swings for the body but Petrovich moves out of range.

Vik Ben dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Some wild striking there from Ben.
Petrovich throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ben.
Ben lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Petrovich throws a combination that misses
and Ben makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ben is looking to wear down Petrovich with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ben. Petrovich does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vik Ben is winning the standup battle so far.
Petrovich shoots in and drives through. Ben sprawls well.
Ben throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ben tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Petrovich was well out of range. Poor timing from Ben.
Petrovich tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ben sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Petrovich somewhat.
Petrovich will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Vik Ben has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Petrovich.
Petrovich takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Petrovich tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ben paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ben just misses with a punch to the body.
Petrovich changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Petrovich takes a jab right on the kisser.
Horrible takedown by Petrovich or perhaps it was just good defense by Ben which made him look bad.
Petrovich takes one to the side of the head.
Petrovich fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ben throws a head kick that Petrovich semi-blocks.


Petrovich is rocked!
Ben drops Petrovich with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Petrovich! Ben dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vik Ben!
Vik Ben seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
