PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Curt Warburton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warburton comes to the cage accompanied by Wretch 32 ft Delilah_ Don`t Be Afraid. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jacob Smith was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Warburton as he avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown by Warburton or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.

Warburton feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Warburton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Smith throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Warburton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Smith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Warburton's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warburton's guard.

Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warburton wants to sweep but no luck.
Smith is fighting to break Warburton's control of his arms but Warburton is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Smith has gone for a leg lock! Warburton slips out almost immediately though and dives into Smith's guard.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Warburton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Warburton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Smith is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Warburton defends well.
Warburton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Warburton throws an elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Warburton's guard. Nice move by Smith!

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Warburton is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

Smith drops back, looking for a kneebar! Warburton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Warburton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Warburton!
Smith sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Smith keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Warburton missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Warburton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Smith manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Warburton gets back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Warburton pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Warburton keeps control of the position for the meantime.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jacob Smith will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Smith instigates a clinch.

Smith manages to pull guard.
Warburton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Warburton is one step ahead there.

Smith has his foot on Warburton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Warburton works his way back into a safe position though.
Warburton lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Smith is looking to sinch up a triangle. Warburton throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Smith's body to avoid the submission. Smith has instead reached around Warburton's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Smith arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
